Dr. Albert Oliver joined Mediclinic City Hospital as the Head of the Emergency Department where he leads a team of outstanding physicians. Educated at Queen’s University and the University of British Columbia in Canada, he practised emergency medicine in Canada for 12 years before moving to the UAE in 2002. Prior to joining Mediclinic City Hospital, Dr. Albert had worked at several of the main government hospitals in the country including SKMC in Abu Dhabi and the Rashid Hospital Trauma Center in Dubai. Most recently he worked as the Training Manager for the Medical Simulation Center at Harvard Medical School Dubai Center (HMSDC).

Dr. Albert is a Fellow of the Canadian College of Family Practice, a member of the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians, and is licensed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. He is a licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada and has completed his American National Board of Medical Examiners examinations. He has recently completed his Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Dundee in Scotland. He is a certified Independent Practitioner and Instructor of emergency ultrasound through the Canadian Emergency Ultrasound Society, and also an ATLS Instructor and International Faculty member. He is a member of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, and has previously taught an advanced airway course for emergency physicians.

Dr. Albert is also a NOAA Diving Medical Officer with training in hyperbaric medicine, a PADI Divemaster, and an avid SCUBA diver.
