Why did you choose to be a dentist?
My mother was an artist and everyone in our family have in one or the other way been very creative. I have always enjoyed the moment when you first get an idea, maybe just a very sublime feeling and then the process that will take you the whole way to the final result. I had a period in my life when I was drawing and selling my art, mostly aquarelle and pencil drawings.
I think what made me chose dentistry was the very thought of helping people in need with whatever problems they might have. I’m find it intriguing to discover different ways to solve problems. It’s very often we dentist have to act as detectives trying to find the right pieces of the puzzle and thereby solving someone’s dental problem. Problem solving is one part of our job that is of great importance – from pain relief to restorative dentistry. Another part of the odontological field that I find as important and also belong to what I really love to do is smile design, that is to say, the enhancement or change of a smile, a field we usually call cosmetic dentistry.
How long have you been practicing dentistry?
I have been practicing dentistry since 1998. I was working in Sweden for 10 years and after that I moved to Dubai.
