Efficient orthodontic care for teens with metal braces, clear braces, invisible or lingual braces and clear aligners.

Aesthetically-oriented adult orthodontic care with clear ceramic braces or invisible lingual braces.

Metal braces are the most popular with kids and teenagers. These braces are much smaller than ever before. Most kids love using different colors of ligature ties. See how different colors will look on your braces.

Translucent clear ceramic braces are the most popular with adults and children alike. You have to be very close to someone to be able to see them.

Translucent clear ceramic braces are the most popular with adults and children alike. You have to be very close to someone to be able to see them.

Self-ligating braces offer several benefits for patients. They use a self-ligation technique using lighter wires and lower friction brackets to move teeth, while resulting in faster treatment times due to its slide mechanism, strong, mechanical base bonding and solid walls structured to control tooth movement with speed and efficiency.

These are a transparent option of braces as compared to conventional braces. This latest development in the field of orthodontics has taken the world by storm. How would you like the option of undergoing orthodontic treatment without anyone realizing it?

As an adult, am I too old for braces?
Absolutely not! You are never too old for braces. We provide orthodontic care for many adults at all ages.

Are braces noticeable?
Braces were very noticeable when they went completely around the teeth. Today, most of the braces are bonded to the front of the teeth thereby eliminating the amount of metal on each tooth. It is also possible to have ceramic braces which blend in with your natural tooth color.

Can I still have braces even though I have crowns and missing teeth?
Absolutely! You can still have braces with crowns. Often when teeth are missing, adjacent teeth will drift into the empty space causing a periodontal, esthetic or functional problem. Orthodontic treatment will correct and prevent this from happening and also provide the proper alignment for your dentist to replace the missing teeth if you so choose.

Will I need to wear a retainer after treatment?
Yes. Even after our best orthodontic treatment, teeth will have a tendency to move slightly, whether you are a child or adult. A retainer is the only way to minimize this movement.

What are short term braces?
Simply said, it is using braces (orthodontics) to improve the appearance of one or few upper front teeth or the lower front teeth in a very short time – usually about six months. It is limited orthodontics not comprehensive orthodontics. The objective is to move only the front six to eight teeth only and not change the bite overall. Because the objective is limited the time span to achieve a more esthetic smile is very short.
Traditional orthodontic braces are used but upon request we can use ceramic brackets instead of the metal ones.
Not every one is a candidate for Short Term braces, however. Gum disease or significant misalignment may make this technique not possible.

Preventive Care

Healthy teeth and gums are the foundation of oral health. We help you look after them with :

Regular half-yearly check ups for teeth and gums
Professional cleaning / prophylaxis

A periodic tooth cleaning is important for several reasons. It lets us remove the tartar and plaque that build up around your teeth, helping prevent periodontal disease. Also, when you come into our office on a regular basis, we can monitor the health of your teeth and gums and look for any signs of changes or problems.

Consistent, rather than occasional preventive maintenance is our goal for each patient. We always take extra time to show our patients the correct way to floss and brush (there is a right and a wrong way!). We explain why consistent care is so important and make patients fully aware of the consequences of neglecting their teeth. We explain how our preventive care treatments work and why they are so important. Call us at 04 4308384 to know more.

Restorative Services

Patients with healthy mouths feel and look great, so if your tooth needs a restoration, call us. We believe in conservative dentistry, so we take every effort to preserve as much of your natural tooth as possible with restorative procedures. The extensive skills and experience combine to give you restorations that blend seamlessly, in appearance and function, with your natural teeth.

Dental Implants

Dental Implants are the newest and most permanent way to replace missing teeth. Implants are basically artificial teeth that are surgically placed into the jaw bone. While implant shapes can vary, they are usually screw-like in design. Once in place, these “roots” can then be used to attach different types of dental prostheses – including crowns, bridges and dentures – in a removable or non-removable fashion.

Implant dentistry is the most advanced therapy available to replace missing teeth. In addition to looking and feeling like real teeth, dental implants allow you to :

• Improve your smile
• Eat the foods you enjoy
• Restore chewing for easy digestion
• Speak with greater ease
• Restore your facial structure
• enjoy and active lifestyle
• Life with confidence

How is an Implant placed?
Using a local anesthesia , the dentist places one or more implants into the jaw bone using a gentle surgical procedure with specially designed instruments. The implant will be covered by gum tissue or in some cases, left exposed and allowed to heal for a period of 2-3 months. This is followed by attaching the prosthetic components on top. During this healing period, you can wear a temporary bridge or a denture to fill in the space. So, you are never without teeth.

We also offer Immediate Implants in certain cases.
After approximately 2-3 months of healing (in some cases longer), the patient returns to the dentist’s office to have the restorative procedure completed. At this point, the tissues have healed and the implant has stabilized itself within the bone and is ready to support the tooth crown or prosthesis that will be attached to it.

Teeth Whitening / Bleaching

Teeth whitening is an aesthetic dental procedure that lightens the shades of teeth by application of hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. In general, teeth whitening can be achieved in dental office or at home.

The in-office whitening gel has higher concentration of peroxides and provides a faster, more prominent whitening effect compared to the one used in home-whitening kit.

Teeth whitening works well in patients who have extrinsic stains, in other words, teeth stains with coffee, tea, tobacco, etc. However, if you have tetracycline stains, you should consider dental porcelain veneers instead of teeth whitening. Mild sensitivity after teeth whitening is common but manageable. The effects of whitening can last from one to three years depending on the patient’s diet and oral hygiene.

Periodontal Therapy

Non-Surgical Periodontal Treatment
Non-surgical periodontal treatment is the least invasive method to maintain good oral health. It consists of scaling and root planing. Scaling is mainly cleaning teeth surfaces that are exposed above the gums. Root planing, on the other hand, is removing plaques and calculus from teeth root surfaces and is commonly performed on patients who have deep pockets. Pockets are spaces created between gums and teeth when gums are swollen or when teeth-surrounding bone is lost.

Periodontal Surgeries
Periodontal Surgeries are surgeries used to help alleviate the periodontal diseases. They include:

Pocket Reduction Procedures – reduce pockets to facilitate maintenance of oral hygiene
Gum Graft Surgery – increase gum attachment by placing grafts on receding gums
Regenerative Procedures – regenerate bones and tissues by using bone grafts and membranes
Dental Crown Lengthening – improve esthetics of tooth when too much gum is covering the tooth

Oral Surgery

If oral surgery is indicated for extractions, removal of impacted third molars, biopsies or other procedures, you’ll appreciate that your surgery is performed in our office with the strictest sterilization procedures. We want to take care of all your dental needs in our practice and build your trust. Our team will ensure that you understand all aspects of the proposed procedures.

Dentures / Partial Dentures

When teeth are missing, the adjacent ones can change position, drifting into the surrounding space. Teeth that are out of position can damage tissues in the mouth. In addition, it may be difficult to clean thoroughly between crooked teeth. As a result, you run the risk of tooth decay and periodontal (gum) disease, which can lead to the loss of additional teeth.

Complete Dentures and partial dentures are options to replace all or few missing teeth respectively.

A partial denture fills in the space created by missing teeth and fills out your smile. They are available in metal, acrylic, flexible varieties.

A complete denture helps you to chew food, a difficult task when there are no teeth. In addition, a complete denture improves speech and prevents a sagging face by providing support for lips and cheeks. It also helps to restore your overall health as a result of improved eating.

We also provide Implant supported overdentures (ISOD). These are especially useful when the upper or lower jaw bone is poor and causes the denture to be loose. ISODs offer much better retention.

Endodontics (Root Canal)

Root canal treatment is a special dental procedure to conserve badly infected or chipped teeth by treating the tooth’s pulp. This dental procedure is done at our clinic in a single sitting or at the most three sittings depending on the extent of the infection.

Root canal dental treatment involves removing the infected tissue, cleansing and sealing the canal of the tooth and restoring the tooth with a crown, or cap.

During root canal therapy, our dentist will:

• Ensure you are comfortable and feel no pain.
• Clean the root canal out.
• Seal it off to protect it from further damage.
• Place a temporary tooth filling or crown over the tooth to strengthen it until a permanent restoration can be placed.
• Once a permanent restoration has been done, your tooth is ready for years of chewing and smiling.

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns are coverings that fit over your teeth and restore each tooth to its normal shape and size, while both strengthening and improving its appearance. A crown is used when teeth are heavily decayed and are too weak to survive with just a filling. This tooth is thus given a new lease of life. Crowns when used to replace more than one missing natural teeth are called ‘bridges’.

In our clinic we offer all types of Crowns and Bridges including, Metal free ceramic crowns and bridges, Porcelain fused to metal (precious alloys) crowns and bridges.

Metal free or All Ceramic Crowns
In our Dr. Shanil Medical Centre we produce Metal Free Ceramic Crowns or All Ceramic Crowns using CAD / CAM technology. These crowns are purely ceramic without a trace of metal or any other material, in contrast other types of crowns are porcelain fused to metal or gold crowns. The top quality, all ceramic crowns produced at our Dr. Shanil Medical Centre are long lasting. They are also the most esthetic and life like crowns available in the global market.

LUMINEERS – the painless way to bring out the beautiful, healthy, natural, permanently white smile in you.

Ultra-thin LUMINEERS are custom designed to give you the beautiful smile you’ve always dreamed of. Unlike traditional veneers, there are no shots, no drilling of sensitive tooth structure, and no pain. They’re even reversible, so you have nothing to lose and a beautiful smile to gain.
