Basics of Oral Hygiene

Brushing and Flossing
​The first step to dental care is to brush and floss your teeth each day.
Most dental problems are caused by plaque. Plaque is a layer of bacteria that forms on your teeth because of bits of food and other organic matter. The best defense is to remove plaque before it has a chance to build up and cause problems. Brushing removes plaque from the large surfaces of the teeth while flossing removes plaque from between your teeth.

Proper Nutrition

Some foods like those high in carbohydrates and sugars contribute to the production of plaque. If you must those high in sugar and starch, try eating them during meals and not in between. Make sure you brush your teeth after every meal.
